ASCB is a ‘performance’ concert band of approximately 40 amateur musicians who love to entertain. The band is available to hire for indoor or outdoor events. We have played at summer fetes, charity fund-raising at stations and shopping centres, bandstands, large corporate events and private parties, and are always happy to play at new venues.
Our repertoire, although primarily ‘light’ music, is extensive and, if required, we can put together a tailored or themed programme to suit your specific occasion. ASCB has a library of over 500 pieces of music, including works specifically composed for concert band and arrangements of modern popular and classical music. We are constantly adding to our repertoire, which ensures that we can perform music from the latest hit shows, blockbuster movies and popular artists.
ASCB’s approach to music is to entertain. Our audiences often tell us that the fun we derive from playing music is infectious. We often find people singing or dancing along to the music; and whether they are just strolling by or spending the evening at one of our concerts, audience participation is actively encouraged!
Recent themed programmes have included ‘Fit for a Queen’ for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee; ‘All Aboard!’, a concert of travel-related pieces including a live Scalextric Formula 1; ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, reaching out to every corner of the animal kingdom (including our very own mascot, DCI Dave Horse); and ‘A Night at the Oscars’, an evening of red carpets, Hollywood stars, and popular film music. We also offer featured instrumental soloists and novelty pieces with narration such as ‘Peter and the Wolf’ and ‘The Night Before Christmas’.
